Mira

I don't appreciate her enough. Sure she can get on my nerves, but I think anybody who's seen my evil side could say worse about me. What is it about being siblings that makes you fight each other? Everybody has had a disagreement with everybody at some point but nothing beats sibling rivalry. Mira and I have had that problem since she could talk. All siblings fight at some point right? Not like Mira and I. Momma says we were born for each other's sanctification; boy do I believe it! I've been praying that God would help us learn to speak kindly and get along. But it's been very hard. I think I would definitely say this is the area I struggle with the most.
I really need to learn to let things go and not to pester, not to be so bossy or be a cop (so they've dubbed me). I may be older but that doesn't automatically give me power over her. I'm the older sibling so that I can help her and protect her, not be her worst nightmare. God made us different and thank goodness for that, but we have to learn to do and be what God intended us as. I hope when we're old and decrepit and stuck in a nursing home we won't still be fighting and smashing our wheel chairs into each other til we die. I hope we learn to love each other and become best friends and help each other as we work to be more like Christ.

I think (well, actually KNOW) I have that same problem with my younger brother. Definitely my younger sisters too, but not at all as bad as my brother :p.

It is interesting the way we carry on with our siblings and won't with our friends, even if the same issue that made you fight with your sib came up with a friend.

I sometimes wish there was one quick fix for sibling rivalry.....and maybe there is? BUt I have a feeling it has to do with humbling ourselves and that can be one of the hardest things to do. Also controlling our selves. Back when I was in karate they had this special thing we had to do every month to get to the next level. Usually something like do the dishes for your Mom, or be respectful to you Dad etc. But there was this one on self control. And Mom decided that if I wanted to advance, I would have to stop arguing and slapping my younger brother for 3 days. That doesn't sound long but I remember those 3 days were some of the hardest. Holding my tongue for that long was unbearable. But you know what, after that I never slapped my brother again. Guess I just had to break the habit or something. It didn't help the arguing though.....lol

This comment is long enough. Going to bed.

Good post, Fe, I totally agree with Bekah. The good thing about your fighting is that it's out in the open-nobody has to dig stuff out of you! That means you can receive grace b/c you are more likely to be corrected at the moment of arguing (unlike w/ Bekah and me, we grumbled under our breath and just glared daggers at each other-though not all the time:) God's obviously at work in you both! And I pray for you both often in this area-I remember how grating and unpleasant it is for everybody. The fact that you realize it doesn't please God and He helps you to respond differently is a big step.
