A week ago Saturday was the reptile show. It was AWESOME!! My only disappointment was they had no African House Snakes. My dad bought himself, Mira and I VIP tickets so we could go early. When we walked in we also got "VIP" bags with a few useful little things in them.
Now I'll let you all know I had no intention of buying any animals (except of course feeder mice). But that doesn't mean I walked away without any new critters. :)
I snuck half a dozen of my baby snakes in with me and was able to trade them for a Florida king snake and a cremecicle corn (my favorite second only to a sunglow). So yeah, Saturday, I didn't spend a penny on animals.
They had demonstrations and the rep show and at one of them this guy had an albino alligator, a (I think) 12ft banana boa and a green anaconda. Speaking of which, some guy was trying to sell an anaconda! It was a yellow anaconda and they don't get as big as the green ones but still! I think I got on his nerves because I was drilling him about the laws on keeping and selling them and what sort of permits you had to have. Either that or he was hiding something. Hmmmm...
Another demonstrator had an armadillo, a skunk and his own alligator (but not albino). Some kid started poking the skunk and it sprayed him so we ended up leaving early.
jk ;)
'Tis the season for geckos and ball pythons it seems. I've never seen so many in my life. My dad caved. He got not one, not two, but three crested geckos! Mind you I'm not criticizing; I think they are really neat.
When I was talking to the guy I got my king from he told me that you can actually cross breed corns with kings and he showed me one. It was so cool looking! It had the built and eyes of a king but the pattern more closely resembled that of a corn and he said it was just as docile as a corn. I'm hoping to cross breed my king.
Well, with VIP tickets who could stick to just one day? Sunday after church my dad and I went back (I drove myself and I didn't get lost!!). One of the demonstrators had a alligator snapping turtle and it weighed about a hundred pounds. The guy actually asked me to help him get it out of its container. Then, when I touched his shell, it almost bit the guy. Oops
The vendor who I got my cremecicle from had a group of baby candy cane corns he was selling for $5 because they weren't eating. I wasn't about to fall for that one (not right away at least) but when he said he was going to feed the ones he didn't sell to his king I caved. I got one male who is now one of my healthiest eaters. Quite a bargain I'd say.
I hope to be going to the reptile show at the beginning of next year but I've promised myself I won't buy anything.
hee hee....

sounds fun. though I'm not exactly an avid reptile fan. :p The geckos sound cool though!
Good job on only spending $5! hahaha. I'm glad you took pity on the little guy :)
Whats sad mk is that both of us have been checking this blog regurally all this time.

You'll buy something. I can guarantee it. You always do. Haha. Yeah, I actually ended up deleting Fe's blog on my favorites because she didn't post for nearly a year...hahahaha
